The less said about this ride the better I think…

A very wet, 40 mile middle, ride made for a rather depressing, challenging ride. Although probably my own fault for A) not immediately putting on water proof boots, and B) not taking any other water proof clothing. Although, you learn from your mistakes, sometimes the hard way.

If it wasn’t for the rain, this would probably have been a great route. The usual 20 miles of getting out of London, into nice country lanes has become a norm, but once out of London, there were nice wooded lanes, national parks (with cycle paths) and the big hill of Holloway Lane. Holloway lane was absolutely gushing with water as I was going up, which was quite an interesting sight and to my surprise was a highlight of the route. Possibly because it gave me something to focus on other than how cold and wet my hands were.

It was also a shame not to be able to enjoy the downhills, as due to the rain my breaks were almost void, making cornering rather daunting.

I should probably give this route another go, on a glorious summers day. But for now, it remains my least favourite cycle of all time…
